“Kamen Rider” 40th anniversary movie to include Kikaider, Inazuman, Zubat Friday February 25, 2011 Japan

entertainmentThe upcoming movie “OOO Den-O All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Rider” will feature special guest appearances by four other popular tokusatsu heroes, created by Ishinomori Shotaro in the 1970s: Kikaider, Kikaider 01, Inazuman, and Kaiketsu Zubat. This will be the first time that they have appeared on screen together with Kamen Riders.

Choshinsei take on regular roles for NHK language program Monday February 21, 2011 Japan

entertainmentThe members of Korean boy band Choshinsei (Choshinsung) will be regulars on NHK’s language learning show “TV de Hangul Kouza” (Tuesdays, 11:00pm). They will begin appearing on the show on March 29, along with Korean actor Lee Jun Hyuk and talento Osawa Akane (25), who is a self-professed fan of the Korean entertainment industry.

AKB48 to finally release an original album Monday February 21, 2011 Japan

entertainmentAfter 20 major-label singles and 3 best albums, popular idol group AKB48 has just announced their plans to release their first original studio album on April 6. The currently-untitled album is expected to contain a total of 16 tracks, including the recent hit singles “Ponytail to Chouchou,” “Heavy Rotation,” “Beginner,” and “Chance no Junban.”

entertainmentOricon has announced the official weekly sales total for AKB48’s 20th single, “Sakura no Ki ni Narou.” After starting off with a record-setting first day, the single has sold approximately 942,000 copies to achieve the 6th highest first-week sales in history.

Kanjani8′s Murakami, Yokoyama to be regulars on NTV variety show

Johnny's Jr. group Mis Snow Man stars in dance movie

entertainmentJohnny's Jr. unit Mis Snow Man will make their silver screen debut in a movie titled "HOT SNOW." The movie will reportedly get one-week runs at two T-Joy theaters in Tokyo (Oizumi) and Kyoto starting on March 26, though no other screenings have been announced so far.

Father of Eita and Kento Nagayama passes away in apparent suicide

entertainmentThe father of actors Eita (28) and Kento Nagayama (21) has passed away at the age of 55. On Wednesday night, he was found hanged in a room in his own home, in what appears to be a suicide.

He was discovered by his older sister (57), who lives with him. At around 7:05pm on February 16, the sister called 119, and an ambulance took him to the hospital. Unfortunately, he was declared dead about an hour and a half later.

Yui Ichikawa stars in drama "Muscle Girl!" with FTIsland vocalist Lee Hong Ki

entertainmentActress Yui Ichikawa (25) has been chosen to star in the TBS drama series "Muscle Girl!" this spring. Her co-star will be FTIsland vocalist Lee Hong Ki (20), making his first appearance in a Japanese drama.

Aoi Miyazaki in talks to star in Abbas Kiarostami's next film

entertainmentActress Aoi Miyazaki (25) is reportedly in talks to appear in the next film by internationally acclaimed Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami ("Taste of Cherry," "The Wind Will Carry Us"). The movie, titled "The End," is said to be a sequel of sorts to his 2010 movie "Certified Copy," which opens in Japan this coming weekend.

"Taiheiyou no Kiseki" opens at almost 400 million yen

entertainmentThe #1 movie at the box office this past holiday weekend was Hideyuki Hirayama's "Taiheiyou no Kiseki: Fox to Yobareta Otoko," starring actor Yutaka Takenouchi. The film opened on Friday on 300 screens nationwide and brought in more than 330,000 viewers, earning slightly more than 390 million yen.
